How to import a generator to Nigeria?

The process is very straightforward, and most tasks can be completed through an agent even if you don't have an import license.

In most cases, the exporter can deliver the goods to your seaport (Lagos, Harcourt, etc.). However, you will need to obtain the following necessary documents from the exporter:

Proforma Invoice: Get a proforma invoice from your supplier.

Bill of Lading: This document will be provided by the shipping company.

Commercial Invoice: Provided by the supplier, detailing the cost and specifications.

Packing List: Lists the items being shipped and their packaging details.

Second, Ensure the generator sets comply with SONCAP requirements. and obtainning a Product Certificate (PC), and  SONCAP Certificate (SC) (Can obtain through agent assitance)

Finally, pay to the duty and taxes, details are below

Import tariffs: 5% 

VAT: 7.5%

CISS: 1%

ECOWAS_COMMUNITY_LEVY： 0.5%
